In the world of IT, if you want your pick of jobs, become a Java developer.
A recent survey by Dice.com, perhaps the most best-known IT job site, showed that Java developers remain the most sought-after tech pros, followed by mobile developers, .NET developers, and software developers.
Those areas aren’t your bailiwick? Here are the other jobs that made Dice.com’s top-ten list: security, SAP, SharePoint, Web development, active federal security clearance, and network engineering.
The Dice.com survey also showed that you don’t have to live in California to land a good IT job. In fact, the eastern seaboard came out on top for job openings, with the New York/New Jersey and the Baltimore/D.C. areas posting significantly more jobs on Dice.com than Silicon Valley.
Dice.com also indicated that techies need to be aware that companies aren’t going to spend time and resources training them. With so many tech pros changing jobs about every three years, training is no longer cost effective.
So it’s up to you to get the skills you need on your own. Looks like Java is a good place to start.
