It’s no surprise to anyone that more and more people are using more and more mobile devices. (Just stop at a red light and watch all the drivers around you pull out their smart phones and start doing a thumb dance across the screens.) So it should also come as no surprise that mobile technology experts top the list of in-demand computer professionals.
According to a recent Red Hat survey, nearly half of all organizations are planning to hire mobile technology workers this year. Of those companies, 32% are looking for skills related to front-end development, while 27% are looking for back-end integration development skills.
And the demand for mobile technology experts will only grow. By 2017, the demand for mobile app developers will be about 5 times the supply, according to some experts.
Cathal McGloin, Red Hat Mobile Platforms vice president, commented that businesses are becoming more “mobile-centric” and will be expanding their mobile development teams as they work to bring apps to market faster.
So if you’re looking a new and highly marketable change to your IT career, you might want to go mobile.
