Making the switch to AI

Everybody’s talking about Artificial Intelligence – even Congress!  So you may be thinking about making a career switch to embrace this technology.

Makes sense, considering that there was a 29 percent increase in the number of AI jobs listed on Indeed from May 2018 to May 2019. And the AI marketplace is expected to grow even more in the coming years.

Some professionals may find it easier than others to make the transition to AI.  IT architects and DevOps professionals, along with programmers and developers who code in Python and R, have skills that lend themselves particularly well to AI. But any IT workers can acquire the capabilities that will ensure them successful AI careers.

So how do you make the switch? The Enterprisers Project recommends that you solidify your software skills while taking courses to master the basics of AI and AI-oriented data science courses. Of course, you need to get certified in AI and you need to really understand the business in which you will be applying your AI skills. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to find a mentor, an AI expert willing to help you navigate the ins and outs of your new field.

Of course, if there’s anything you can say for sure about any technology, it’s going to change. So never stop learning.
