Changing jobs in a pandemic

It isn’t news that Techies love to change jobs. There’s always a new frontier. Here are some tips on how to make your resume stand out during the pandemic.

1. Emphasize your remote work. Yes, we know that some states are opening up, but many tech companies are keeping their workers at home, at least for the near future. So tell potential employers about your experience working remotely, managing a remote team, setting and achieving project goals, handling the challenges of different time zones.

2. List your remote skills. Mention apps like Teams and Slack. Talk about working in the cloud and file sharing.

3. Highlight your efficiency. Let potential employers know that you can get projects done on time and on budget – or even under budget, if possible.

4. Hit the bottom line. Times are tough for most companies. What can you do to maximize performance while minimizing costs? Lay it out in plain terms.

According to Dice’s ongoing COVID-19 Sentiment Survey, just under a third of technologists are either looking for a new job or plan to start looking in the  coming weeks.  If you’re one of those techies, good luck. Wear a mask. Stay safe!
