Machine-proofing your job

President Trump may be talking (campaigning?) about bringing manufacturing jobs back to America, but the truth is that most of these jobs are likely to be replaced by machines rather than foreign workers in the not too distant future. So it might behoove us all to look for jobs that won’t be replaced by machines.

Experts agree that the place to start is with a solid STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. Someone has to design, program, and maintain the AI machines that will do the work for us. Those people will be found in STEM fields.

According to CIO magazine, here are some other jobs that may have “sticking power”, at least for the near future:

  • Cloud cost containment officer
  • chief IoT officer
  • Data protection officer
  • Devops manager
  • Penetration tester
  • Innovation manager
  • Automation architect

We suggest that inventors of whacky job titles should be added to the list.
