Schrödinger’s budget

Once  again, the news from Capitol Hill is both good and bad, especially when it comes to the federal budget.

The good news is that funding for science and technology research saw a healthy increase in 2018.

The bad news is that much of that money was included in bills that have not yet passed – bills, in fact, that have been put on hold thanks to the government shutdown.

President Trump has vowed that he will sign no more spending bills until he gets funding for the border wall. Congress seems just as determined not to give him that wall.

The end result? Science and technology research are both funded and not funded. It’s Schrödinger’s budget all over again.

We’ll let you know what happens when — and if — the government goes back to work.
